Why Choose Acadia For Your Elopement?

Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful and romantic locations for an elopement. From the breathtaking views of Cadillac Mountain, to the stunning ocean vistas at Sand Beach, Acadia offers endless opportunities for couples looking for a special place to exchange their vows. If you’re looking for an intimate elopement with a touch of magic, Acadia National Park is a perfect choice.
One of the top choices for couples looking to elope in Acadia is Cadillac Mountain. Located on Mount Desert Island, Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on the east coast of the United States. It is home to spectacular panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and nearby islands, making it an ideal spot for sunset elopement.

The Best Time of Year to Elope in Acadia

When planning an elopement in Acadia National Park, spring and fall are the ideal times to visit. The park is at its most breathtaking during these seasons, with stunning foliage and cooler temperatures. Plus, if you plan your elopement for a weekday, you’ll have the park mostly to yourself! That’s a huge bonus for couples wanting to exchange vows surrounded by nature.
If you’re planning to elope in the summer, try to avoid peak season when the park is full of visitors. You’ll have more privacy, peace, and quiet during the weekdays in April, May, September, or October. That way, you can enjoy your special moment without any distractions.

Planning Acadia National Park Elopement Photography

When you’re planning an elopement in Acadia National Park, it’s important to be aware of the rules and regulations that govern the area. To ensure that your special day goes off without a hitch, take the time to visit the park’s website and review any relevant information about permits, reservations, and more. Additionally, it’s important to plan ahead when it comes to transportation. While Acadia National Park has some fantastic spots for eloping, many of them can only be reached by car, so make sure you have reliable transportation before setting out.
To make sure your Acadia National Park Elopement is as special and stress-free as possible, consider these tips:
– Consider the time of year for your elopement. Spring and fall are both popular times in Acadia because of the stunning foliage and pleasant temperatures, but keep in mind that these seasons will be much busier than winter or summer.
– Plan ahead and make reservations if possible. Reservations are required for camping, and some other activities, so make sure to plan ahead to avoid any last-minute hassles.
– Pack the right gear. Even if you’re just eloping for a few hours, it’s important to bring along any supplies you might need – including appropriate clothing, snacks, and even insect repellent.
– Scout your location. Acadia National Park is full of beautiful spots perfect for eloping, so take some time to find the one that’s perfect for you.
– Invest in a photographer. Hiring a professional photographer to capture your special day is a great way to ensure you get beautiful photos that will last a lifetime.

Also, bad weather forecast expected for your photo session? No problem. Acadia weather can be so unpredictable, regardless of what the weatherman or radar might say. And even if it does rain, the adventure must go on! These two were able to dodge the raindrops for most of our time together and posed in front of moody skies along the rocky cliffs. Sometimes people can be very leery of doing photos if it’s not perfectly sunny out, but oftentimes that just isn’t the case. And if you’ve seen any of my photos, you will see that I have worked in some moody weather and produced some wonderful images. It’s not about a perfect session or having clear blue skies, it’s about the emotions and the experience.

After adventuring to a few places in the park like the beach and cliffs, we made our way up Cadillac Mountain. Halfway up, we pulled off to the side to look back down onto downtown Bar Harbor. We could also see a very clouded, foggy road ahead and I knew it was about to rain if we proceeded higher up the mountain. Normally you can see for miles and miles and you may even get a super epic sunset up there, but not this time. But just as cool was a thick cloud of fog, and I just kept on creating with the Bride and Groom. It was the perfect vibe for my dark and moody style. I think these two really nailed it and followed my directions perfectly. Before parting ways, I thought maybe just one more idea would be fun, where I had them put their car lights on in the rain and fog, and to pose in front of them. I was so glad they were down because I’ve never taken photos like this before in my entire career!
