Verona Island Wedding Photography
I usually write something sweet and soft up for this part of my wedding blogs and I try to present my couple is a romantic and dreamy way, but for these two, hell nah, that’s just not who they are. Lauren and Kevin are real, in love and just plain happy together. I’ve never met a more chill, laid back couple in my entire career as a wedding photographer. Lauren was not concerned about not seeing Kevin in the morning, or having any special first looks, she just loved spending time with everyone who matters to them. She was less interested in formal photos and more interested in making sure Kevin was arranging things up the road for the guests to arrive. Everyone got ready at Lauren’s dad house on the water and his home was so full of unique and interesting items to keep me entertained for days. Ships and dinosaur bones, and fossils in the shower too. The weather was insane, heavy winds and lots of rain, so photos had to be delayed until after the ceremony. Originally Lauren planned to walk down the aisle and get married next to the water, but the rain put that dream to an end, but the couple quickly rearranged things and set up in their mostly finished barn to keep everyone out of the inclement weather. This did not bother Lauren in the slightest, all she wanted to do was marry the love of her life, the father of her children in front of everyone they love. After the ceremony, Lauren was less interested in formal bridal photos and more ready for a drink and some snacks. So we did just that, and I was able to drag the two of them across the road to the original spot for some quick photos by the water, but I quickly returned them to their guests and partying. Weddings are not about me or what I want, they are what the person who hired me wants, and that makes me happiest. I heard from a few friends of Lauren’s that she originally did not even want to hire a photographer, but luckily some amazing people sent her my way. I truly hope she is thankful that she made a good investment in choosing me to document her big day, as I loved being there to document everything just as it all happened.
