Family Photo Session in Acadia National Park

This past summer, I made a life-changing decision to purchase a camper and stay at a campground near Acadia National Park. Over the past few years, I’d found myself working in the area more and more, and the idea of being able to immerse myself in the beauty of the park full-time felt like a dream. Photographing people in Acadia National Park has always been a passion of mine as there’s something magical about capturing moments against such breathtaking backdrops. It brings me so much joy that this has become the focus of my work. Starting in May, I’ll be back at the campground, fully embracing life on the road.

For anyone looking for a great list of available campgrounds near Acadia National Park, Acadia Magic has created a great list!

What makes this season even more exciting is that my husband and I have decided to go full-time with camper life! Downsizing and simplifying have been on our minds for a while, and being close to Acadia for six months feels like the perfect opportunity to take the leap. If anyone reading this has tips for living full-time in a camper, we’re all ears! We’re looking forward to the adventure ahead, the simplicity of life on wheels, and being surrounded by the incredible nature of Acadia.

One of the most memorable experiences of this past summer was a special family photo session I did. It was meaningful for so many reasons. When we moved into the campground, this family was our new neighbor. From the moment we met, they were incredibly warm and welcoming. They were eager to check out our camper and say hello to our little dogs, and before long, we had formed a fast friendship. Over the course of five weeks, we shared so many wonderful moments together, campfires under starry skies, lazy pool days, and morning coffees that stretched into heartfelt conversations. It had been a long time since I’d felt such a deep connection with others, and their kindness even extended to celebrating my birthday with me, showering me with love and laughter.

One day, I asked them when they’d last had family photos taken, and they admitted it had been years, well before the arrival of their fourth child. That was all the inspiration I needed. We scheduled a session and spent a beautiful day exploring. This turned out to be one of the Most Magical Family Photo Session in Acadia National Park. As we adventured through the park, I captured candid moments of their family, the laughter, the love, the bonds that were so evident. It was an incredible experience to document these moments for them, and it’s one I’ll never forget. These kinds of connections and opportunities to create meaningful memories through photography are exactly why I feel so grateful for this path I’ve chosen.
