May 5 is International Day Of The Midwife. As a baby caught by a midwife myself, I am so honored to celebrate today and recognize those that play a pivotal role in the transition of people’s lives from pregnancy to parenthood. Midwives support you and educate you about being pregnant, going into labor, transitioning, birthing your baby, postpartum, breastfeeding, and much more. Midwives attend school for many many years to learn and certify in all things birth to appropriately and safely support expecting families. Midwives live a life of on-call 24/7 never knowing when they may get that call to attend a birth. Not only this, but they support clients prenatally and monitor the entire pregnancy as it progresses as well as offering support and recommendations for everything. They help support clients with understanding their preferences and desires before birth. Midwives teach people about good nutrition for growing and feeding a baby. There is so much more that a midwife does on top of all of this too, and without them expecting families would be lost! As a birth photographer, I also truly appreciate midwives that value birth photography for their clients and respect me and my profession when I am present at a birth with them, and even sometimes they offer up a good seat for a perfect photo spot! Where do I begin? From the very start from inquiry to the day of the wedding, Bree was very quick and easy to communicate with. The day of the wedding was extremely chilly and Bree was there with bells on with an amazing attitude. She was wonderful with everyone there and a gentle guide to make sure we got all of the shots we wanted. More than one person said that they felt they knew her. That’s how calming and natural her presence was. Now - the pictures. We got the sneak peak one or two days after the wedding! The speed at which she edited was much faster than expected. Hands down one of the best photography experiences I've ever had. This photo shoot was coordinated across states without having met. I was given Bree's name as a referral from a friend & trusted that she would be great for our family. Great is a wild understatement. Given our unique circumstances, Bree agreed to meet us during one of our port docks onboard a cruise vacation we had booked. Not only did she offer up available seating in her car to help accommodate our large group, she was willing to bend over backwards to make sure we got exactly what we wanted - and that we did! AND MORE! Bree's personality made our family feel extremely comfortable and relaxed during our shoot. Wow, I don't know where to begin! We came to Maine for our 10 year anniversary and decided last minute to get maternity photos done while we were out there. Not only was Brianna prompt to respond, but she was also super helpful in giving us location ideas since we weren't familiar with the area. She also went above and beyond by letting me wear some of her beautiful maternity gowns and made me feel like a million bucks! Brianna has such a sweet, kind and funny demeanor, she immediately put me at ease as soon as she appeared at my front door. As a photographer myself, I'm very uncomfortable having my photo taken, but I trusted her sensitive eye to capture my dog and I. What surprised me most was that I actually had fun while being photographed! Brianna alleviated all my stress from the get-go, so I just got to relax and hang out with my dog, and it just so happened she was making beautiful portraits at the same time! My dog passed away around a month after Brianna visited our home. I am so grateful to Breezy Photography for spending some time with us and capturing my relationship with my best friend of over fourteen years. I treasure these photographs and look at them all the time. Bree hands down is the best photographer in the area, she is so easy to work with and to communicate with. She also is not only there to take pictures but she joins in on the party and gets the best reactions and smiles out of everyone. My mother has passed and always said she would come back as a dragonfly, during my father daughter dance a huge dragonfly flew in and circled us a few times before it flew out. Neither Bree or I saw it but she told me she would hopefully find it in the pictures. She did not find it in the pictures during the dance but sure enough she found one during the ceremony next to my father. It is proof that my mother most certainly was there and I will always cherish that picture. My family and I will only use her for family pictures going forward and will continue to recommend her.
